Koh Samui Beaches

Koh Samui's beaches are some of the finest in the world, with 90% of the island's resorts being directly on the beach. The geography varies from the soft white sand of Mae Nam to the rugged rocky outcrops found around Lamai. Most beaches are shallow and perfect for children, but the swimming on the North Coast is possibly the best anywhere.
Mae Nam Beach voted '9th Best in Asia 2009' Australia Herald Sun newspaper.

Chaweng Beach

Cheerful, crowded and busy, but with a wide choice of bars and restaurants. A broad beach that slopes gently.

Bang Rak Beach

Peaceful, almost undeveloped, with a narrow beach and shallow water. Close to the airport and running into Bo Phut Beach.

Mae Nam Beach

Relaxed, quiet, but with a good choice of shops and restaurants - many on the beach. Some of the best swimming on Samui.

Lamai Beach

Quieter than Chaweng, with rocky outcrops. Perfect for bathing and exploring rock pools. Great for families and children.

Bo Phut Beach

Lively varied but laid-back and easy. Lots of accommodation, shops and restaurants. Shallow water, good for dipping.
