Bo Phut Beach

There are several places on Samui where the sea floor slopes very gradually, and this is one of them! The result is that hardcore swimmers will want to move to a different beach! But the coast here is fine for paddling, dipping and generally cooling off.

The sand is soft and powdery and there are no rocky outcrops such as you find in Lamai or Chaweng.

One other feature is that the beach is narrow - there's not much distance between the land and the sea. Most of the time this is not a noticeable aspect, but in the rainy season you might find that the beach has completely disappeared in several places!

You won’t find organised rows of beach beds and umbrellas, and there’s happily very few beach vendors, too.

What makes it most enjoyable is that those restaurants that are on the beach gain a delightful ambiance from having the waves lapping in the background only a few metres away, and there are a lot to pick from, particularly those gathered together in Fisherman’s Village.
