Flights to Koh Samui

Although Samui does not have 'International' status and there are no long-haul flight arriving here, the airport does have flights to Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. Other than that all the air traffic in and out of Samui's airport are domestic flights - the majority of them between Samui and Bangkok's Suvanabhami Airport.

Samui additionally connects with airports at Surat Thani, Phuket and Pattaya also.

Bangkok - Samui Flights

Daily domestic flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui are available through Bangkok Airways. You will find there are normally eighteen Koh Samui to Bangkok flights and seventeen Bangkok to Samui flights per day.

Bangkok - Surat Thani Flights

The airport is owned and controlled by Bangkok Airways and nearly all the flights are via this carrier. However there are also concessions to Asia Air and Thai Airlines, although these connect only with the nearest airport on the mainland at Surat Thani.

Further Considerations

Mostly the prices from Bangkok to Samui and vice-versa are fixed and discounts are rare. The one exception to this is the 'Early Bird' flights which utilise the first or last flights (see times below). These are notably less expensive, but you'll need to contact a travel agent or Bangkok Airways to enquire about this.

As a rule, booking a return flight works out less expensive than two singles - as you might expect!

The only other thing you may need to bear in mind is that the journey from Surat Thani airport to the Samui ferry at Donsak takes about 90 minutes. There is an additional 90 minute ferry trip to consider on top of this. And the ferries do not run at night - keep this in mind also.
